19 May 2010 - Target Cranes Successfully Lifts Geodesic Dome

Target Cranes has completed a precedent setting heavy lift for Active Mechanical Services Group (AMS) in the Western Cape.

The contract called for the lifting of a 37 ton geodesic dome and placing it atop a recently refurbished oil storage tank. The aluminum dome, with a 54 meter diameter, will serve as a covering for the oil tank to protect its contents from the elements. The geodesic shaped dome allows any condensation or rainwater to flow naturally to the edge of the dome and down the sides of the oil tank.
