South Africa's energy sector is critical to the economy, contributing about 15% to the country's gross domestic product (GDP).
However, increased demand and limited supply has meant that South African state power utility, Eskom, needs to invest billions of dollars in electricity transmission and distribution lines over the next decade. Electrification of the biggest economy in Africa is a major priority for the country.
In the power sector, Target Cranes provides tailored and distinctive lifting and transport solutions during maintenance, new construction, and upgrading works.
Examples of Target Cranes' work within the power sector, includes the support services for the construction of new power plants, the maintenance and/or extension of existing facilities, and the maintenance and construction of nuclear power plants under exceptionally strict safety rules.
Target Cranes is currently providing cranage to the Medupi Power Station and is working with Roymec, a subsidiary of Eskom in the Western Cape.
