Thuthukisa Training

The Thuthukisa Training School was established as part of our commitment to 3 things; Black Economic Empowerment, our staff and the development of skills within the industry as a whole.

‘Thuthukisa’ is the Zulu word for raise up. It is the ethos which spearheads our company’s drive to equip our learners with the skills to improve their capacity to excel.

Mission:

As an institution of learning, we aim to cultivate the skills base within the logistics industry by providing a professional and industry-relevant market offering. Our theoretical and practical training serves to equip learners with the expertise to execute their functions effectively and efficiently within the workplace whilst enhancing their capacity for advancement.

Vision:

Through our training we strive to make a positive contribution to the social upliftment of our students and the socio economic growth of the community which we serve.

Training Programmes:

With NQF aligned training programmes and seasoned trainers/assessors having 16 years experience in presenting unit standards 8038 and 8039, learners are assured of the highest calibre of training.

Thuthukisa's training offering is a unique industry first in that it offers the theoretical framework backed by the practical experience of a 6-month learnership period under the auspices of Target Cranes (Pty) Ltd. coaches, whereafter trainees will qualify with work related experience from an industry leader.

Having attained accreditation from the Transport Education Training Authority (TETA09-164), the Cape Town-based company is in good stead to forge its position within the training fraternity.

Assessment criteria is based on the successful completion of theoretical and practical training as well as the submission of a portfolio of evidence verifying that the trainee has been given sufficient practical guidance in the course of his/her learnership.

Thuthukisa Training aims to expand its scope in 2010 to include all driving codes, Heavy Haulage, Health & Safety and First Aid courses.

Black Economic Empowerment:

The directors and trustees are committed to Black Economic Empowerment and the company contributes to the social and financial upliftment of previously disadvantaged individuals (PDI's) both directly and indirectly.

This is achieved on two levels. Firstly, with Target Cranes Employee Trust holding a controlling interest in Thuthukisa, the financial gain of the company is passed on to the Employees Trust. Secondly, through the provisioning of training which will improve trainee skills levels and capacity to find viable employment, the company will be empowering its learners to develop and progress.

Furthermore, the company's recruitment and development strategy is geared to compliment the company's commitment to BEE and the creation of meaningful change. Espousing a culture of progressiveness, the company ensures that its procurement protocol is suitably aligned so as to achieve short and long-term targets, with Corporate Social Investment initiatives yet to be identified.
